I'm founder-musical director of the New White Rose Orchestra (recently re-named The Chris Irvin Concert Orchestra), as well as guest conductor for the Idle Orchestra, and Leeds Music Club. I am currently helping to revive the Rochdale Light Orchestra.

Until February, 2016 I was musical director of the White Rose Orchestra which I helped to establish and programme from June 2012. Concerts included events at Connaught Court (York), Hebden Brdge Little Theatre, Manchester Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Adel Methodist Church (with concert pianist Natalia Strelchenko) , RIchmond House School (with her son, Leo Strelle), Hollybank Trust, Holy Trinity Church (Boar Lane, Leeds), St. Hilda's Church (Cross Green, Leeds), Victoria Quarter (Leeds), Heart Centre (Headingley).

The New White Rose Orchestra has performed at Brighouse Methodist Church for John Buxton's Celebration of Music III, and recently at Connaught Court care home in York.

On Sunday afternoon, 26 June, as part of the National Gardens Scheme, the orchestra played a selection of Light Classical Music out-of-doors to the many visitors to the beautiful gardens at Birstwith Hall (kindly opened by Sir James and Lady Aykroyd).


The orchestra joined with The Hebden Bridge Little Theatre Choir (which I founded in 2009) for a concert at the Hebden Bridge Little Theatre on Saturday 9 July, 7.30pm.

Thursday 23 February, 2017 : The New White Rose Orchestra performed a repertoire of Light Classical Music (including my ELEGY FOR A GARDENER) at Adel Methodist Church, Holt Lane, Leeds LS16 7NX @ 7.30pm.

In July, 2017 the orchestra performed at RHS Harlow Carr Gardens, Harrogate
